Terms of use

The fine print, in plain academic English.

The journal is offered as personal academic and editorial work, free of charge, with no commercial purpose. By reading it, you accept the conditions below.

Effective from 2 May 2026.

1. Editorial nature

All material published on cultury-museum.lat — research articles, field notes, photographs, captions, and editorial commentary — is offered as the personal academic and literary writing of Dr Doaa El-Masry. It is not paid promotion, it is not sponsored, and no museum, ministry, university, or commercial body has approved or commissioned the writing. Readers are invited to verify factual claims with the institutions concerned and to consult the cited bibliographic sources directly.

2. No commercial offer

This journal does not sell anything. It does not offer entry to any museum or site, it does not arrange visits or guided study tours, and it does not act as an intermediary between any reader and any institution. References to museums, exhibitions, opening hours, or routes are descriptive and not transactional. If you wish to visit a site, contact the relevant inspectorate directly. Any practical detail mentioned in an essay can change without notice.

3. Copyright

The text and original photography on this site are the copyright of Dr Doaa El-Masry unless otherwise stated. Quotations of up to three hundred (300) words are permitted under fair-dealing for review or scholarly purposes provided the source is named. For longer quotations, translations, or reproduction in print, please write to [email protected].

Some photographs are reproduced on the basis of public-domain status. Where a third party holds rights — including the field-photograph archives of the universities and missions whose names appear in the captions — this is acknowledged in the caption and the original right-holder retains all rights in the original image.

4. Trademarks and institutional names

The names of museums, institutes, missions, and universities are used for identification only. Their use does not imply any partnership, endorsement, or affiliation with the journal. The use of "University of Minya" in connection with the editor's biographical details does not imply institutional publication or endorsement.

5. Accuracy and corrections

The editor takes care to be accurate, but academic understanding evolves and museums change — galleries close for restoration, exhibits move, attributions are revised. The journal cannot guarantee that any practical or attributive detail is current at the moment of reading. Corrections are welcomed at [email protected] and are usually made within a fortnight, with a note at the foot of the corrected essay recording the change.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Egyptian law, the editor accepts no liability for any decision a reader takes on the basis of material published on this site, including travel decisions, scheduling decisions, or interpretive decisions. The reader uses the journal at their own discretion and should always verify operationally important information with the institution concerned, and academically important attributions with the cited sources.

7. Letters

If you write to the editorial address, you grant a non-exclusive licence to quote, edit, and publish the substance of your letter — anonymously by default — in subsequent issues of the journal. If you do not wish your letter to be quoted, please mark it "not for publication" and the editor will respect that.

8. Linking and reproduction

Linking to any page of this site is welcome. Framing the site, scraping it for training data without permission, or republishing essays in full on other sites is not permitted.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Any dispute arising from or connected with this site or its editorial content shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Cairo, Egypt. For European readers, this clause does not affect mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under your local law.

10. Contact
