Letters & corrections

Write to the editorial address.

Notes on a misattribution, a missing reference, a date that should not have been published in that form — they are read in the order they arrive, and the next issue carries the corrections.

The faculty office holds my mail in pigeonhole 14. I collect on Monday and Thursday afternoons during term, more sporadically in the long summer break. Replies are typically written by hand, in blue ink, on faculty letterhead. They take three to five weeks.

By email

For corrections to the essays: [email protected]
For substantive letters and replies: [email protected]
For reprint and translation permissions: [email protected]

I read email on Friday mornings at the desk in Mallawi. Long replies, when warranted, follow the next weekend. Short replies are usually same-day.

Office hours

I keep faculty office hours on Sunday and Tuesday from eleven to one during term, in room 314 of the Faculty of Arts building. Visitors who would like to discuss a contribution to the journal — particularly graduate students from the regional universities — are welcome to come without an appointment, although a written introduction by email is appreciated.

What I cannot help with

  • Booking, reservations, or anything to do with site access. The Middle Egypt inspectorate offices in Minya, Asyut, and Sohag are the right addresses.
  • Authentication of objects. I am not qualified to attribute, value, or authenticate antiquities. The Supreme Council of Antiquities handles these questions.
  • Letters to museums on a reader's behalf. Please write directly.
  • Translation. I do not provide free translations of the essays. Permissions for paid translations are negotiated through the rights address above.
